“What is constant is change” ~ unknown
A rockstar ever quoted that life is like a roller coaster ride, its goes up and down frequently. However, life is more like unpredictable coaster-ride. Your may plan well, but the ups and down may happens without your acknowledgement. Some people believe that there is ‘invisible hand’ that will manage it for you. It concludes that every individual is riding on more adrenaline pumping ride than any Disneyland can offer.
2011 has been a life changing timeframe for millions. Many cherish for generosity that 2011 has bestowed that let them thrive in this round-blue-Earth. Some may suffer then cursing 2011 for hardship 2011 has delivered.
A definite answer of how good/bad 2011 is left unanswered as there are always 2 sides of coin. A usual existence of dilemma, as some philosophers said that we are still living the world full of irony. Some economist even can’t agree more with philosopher. According to Pareto efficiency “it’s impossible to make yourself better-off by not making other worsen-off”. Both philosophy / economist statement seems make sense for me and I’m not in the position and capability to challenge the idea.
Lot thing happened in 2011. Our Egyptians-Libyan brothers celebrate the falling of their great leader from the majestic throne. The great Kim-Jong-Il leaves the world of realm to meet other north-korean Kim-god. Well I guess they are eating kimchi together discussing the bombshell and ‘bombshell’ of Kim’s. 2011 seems not a good year for dictators indeed, however ‘maybe’ a good year for the revolutionaries, this premise quite explain the trade-off stated in paretto efficiency principle.
2011 has been a great year for me I may say. I’ve been bestowed a lot of life-changing experience this remarkable year that urge me to create a piece of memoir that remind of me how great 2011 is. I’ve postponed my opportunity to write the piece since last 3 years, the delay of putting the story of three years of amazing college-life in a university in Jakarta’s outskirt into a passage.
Living in the sub-urban in north of Jakarta region is not a good start to an individual that think BIG. There is just a homoeostatic that will not let you grow big. The idea of grow big is rare to find here. 13 years ago, I only have 2 GRANDE (suburb level) desires:
(1) Transporting trough a super massive transportation facility that allows you to fly that I saw in the airport,
(2) Touching a white form of precipitation within the Earth’s atmosphere in the form of crystalline water ice that I watched in TV.
Being a proud-shallow-man I incentivize my labors trough that 2 milestones. For ten years since 1998, I hardly achieved those 2 life-goals.
2011 become a notable as those two simple milestones passed smoothly, as expected. It’s kinda sad that my childhood dreams can easily be attained. It is not big enough apparently, like knowing that the great adventure of Tom Sawyer is only located around Mississipi river, not entire country.
However, sadness can be easily crystallized into a lesson. I learned to adjust the size of dream with the size of the world. The more your experience travelling the world, smaller your dream will be. At that point of time, you may have the urge to tweak your vision and dream bigger. There’s always a good place for a little quote I got from a movie this year, “Aim Higher”.
It’s been a good year, worth to reminisce, and bring happiness if I reckon. With tons of learning and new thing that introduce me to the world, the real world called connected-world.
See you in the world, dude…

Gaudeamus Igitur… Iuvenes dum sumus…
(Let us Rejoice // While we are young).
Four years ago, those latin phrase was beautifully a proloque for my learning-phase. Four month ago, it turned out to be a curtain close. Wraping all flavours involved in this phase, the bitter sweet experience.
It instantly became an end of a wonderful journey that will remain as a pretty vignette in my subconcious. Subconcious —not mind, because the mind may hardly reacts and acknowledges the beauty of experience. But his/er subconcious does. They always be the most truthful among all an individual has because Mouth is easy to lie and the heart can deny.
Wolf howls for the sake of communication… even remotely…

As full moon set, the Wolfs howl. It outspread fear, horror, even terror to other beings. That intangible form of weapon covers the night and then alters the surrounding environment into a displeasing atmosphere of threat. It woke other creature. It makes them awake, aware and stand still with full of defense ensuring their life is not at maximum risk. All happens just because of a melodious voice from a wolf.
The blue Moon sadly can only serve as silent witness. The wise Sun is barely able to experience the howl of the wolf. The wise unable to stop them, the beauty can only see others get terrified. The wind is bolstering the wolf with her breeze. It helps extending the power of howl. More breezes, wider the howl scattered. Sudden howl will surely outbreak the harmony of Gaia.
Wolf’s howl is versatile. It is the manifesto of strength, motivation, hope, will, anger, loneliness, and hunger; a combination of virtue with infamy, idea and instinct, or need and lust. It is true that howl is a complex combination that can incur a restless night for other, not the wolf. However, in the nutshell, wolfs howl therefore they live.
The howl is a war cry. A ‘war cry’ symbolizing a contract between wolfs prior the hunt. It is a contract for the colony of hunter that letting the fellows to survive another number of hard days, a colony that gathered to bring bigger bacon home to every fellow wolf pack. Never forget to mention, a wolf alone is a great fighter. Hunting alone or in colony has every own pro-cons that has already been calculated by our wild fighter.
In a man’s short siesta, the image of wolf howling and hunting appears.
In a wolf’s short siesta, the image of a man talking and working is their nightmare.

I regard coming to YLI Wave 3.3 (as alumni) is the best decision i made this entire week. Mr Gita Wirjawan opened our day with sharing his recipe of success (believe me, his standard of success is the high-level one).
Here’s the 5 bullets points about the recipe:
- Education
- Risk Taking
- Hardwork
- Networking
- Luck (Opportunity meets Preparation)
All variable is interdependent. U need to pour all the variable and stir it well in order to make a tasty soup of success.
